Our Program
We run activities in the classroom that push the strongest and most motivated students, but also provide the necessary support and scaffolding to students who need it. This focused one-on-one instruction produces notable improvements in not only the students’ skills, but also in their self-confidence.
According to the National Summer Learning Association, under-resourced students lose about two months of grade-level equivalency in mathematical computation and more than two months in reading achievement, while their middle-class peers demonstrate summer learning gains. More than half of the achievement gap can be explained by unequal access to summer learning opportunities.
At Achieve, we close that gap. Quickly. In fact, on average, our students jump ahead three months in math and reading after just six weeks in the program. And, that’s just the starting place for what we help students Achieve…
How does Achieve do it?
- We are completely tuition-free — this includes all food, transportation and programming.
- Our school buses bring students from across Boston neighborhoods to and from the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham.
- We recruit top teachers and teaching assistants who are committed to helping students from Boston Public Schools.
- We take a holistic approach to educating our scholars — we recognize that social and emotional growth is just as critical as academic achievement.
- We provide individualized academic intervention depending on the level of support needed by each student.
- We like to have fun! We have a speaker series that brings in motivational role models who share their stories, we go on field trips to places like Kimball Farm and Xtreme Craze Inflatable Park and we offer a wide variety of enrichment classes.
- We offer support and guidance throughout the high school application process to ensure ideal placement
